FLEET COMPLIANCE GROUP, LTD. (F.C.G.) has been a Michigan third-party test facility in the Grand Rapids area since 1990. We have recently moved into a new facility conveniently located near Exit #74 for 84th St. off U.S. 131. Any questions regarding our test certification or examiners can be obtained through the State of Michigan.
All test appointments must be pre-scheduled and pre-paid prior to the day of the test (at least 48 hours prior to the C.D.L. test). We strongly suggest that you contact our scheduling department well in advance, giving the applicant ample time for vehicle and test preparation. Specific documents are required at the time of the test for each test type. Keep in mind that the State does not allow tests to be administered if these documents are not available at the time of the test. A confirmation sheet (which outlines more details and refund policies) shall be provided with testing details and requirements prior to the time of your appointment. Review this thoroughly prior to your test appointment. DO NOT forget that you will be required to provide valid and current proof of insurance and registration at the time of every test.
We offer a waiting room and restroom facilities for those who accompany the applicant, but request no small children without adult supervision.
For more detailed information and pricing, or to scheduling an appointment, contact Heather at 616-532-4626.

Under 18 – The applicant must provide: a current, valid Temporary Instruction Permit (TIP, held for a minimum of 180 days), a Segment 2 Driver Education Certificate, and a signed Applicant’s Driving Log in order to proceed with the skills test. All applicants must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who are required to ride along during the road test. Note: Segment 1 must be held for a minimum of 6 months.
Over 18 – The applicant must present a current and valid Temporary Instruction Permit (TIP, held for a minimum of 30 days) at the time of the skills test.

COMMERCIAL DRIVER LICENSE TESTS
F.C.G. offers skill tests for each commercial vehicle type licensed by the State of Michigan, Secretary of State: combination vehicles (i.e., tractor trailer), straight truck, passenger vehicles and school bus. Applicants must provide a vehicle that falls within the safety requirements (inspection) as outlined by the State of Michigan, Secretary of State. The vehicle must be equivalent to the license being sought.
Scheduled appointments must be made at least 48 hours prior to the test time – no exceptions. The Temporary Instruction Permit (TIP) must be held a minimum of 14 days prior to the date of the test appointment. Be advised that any changes to the “TIP” will extend the waiting period for an additional 14 days (including any endorsements (doubles/triples, passenger, school bus, tank, or HAZMAT) or restrictions changes such as air brake, OR renewal, etc.).
If any of the segments of the skills test (inspection, basic skills, or road test) are not successfully passed, the remaining segments can be banked until the next appointment. However, if the permit is modified in any way (see above), the segments banked will then be null and void. The applicant must then retest the already passed segments.
Valid and current proof of insurance, registration, TIP, driver’s license, and signed confirmation must be provided by the applicant prior to initiating the skills test. Properly insured, licensed, and maintained rentals are available through F.C.G. for tractor trailer and straight truck vehicles only.
Our range for basic skills is administered on a completely paved lot. Inside truck bays are available for the inspection segment of the test during inclement weather. Contact our scheduling department for more details.
Applicants must provide a motorcycle that falls within the safety requirements as outlined by the State of Michigan, Secretary of State. A current, valid license plate and registration (if available), Michigan driver’s license, proof of insurance, and our confirmation sheet must be provided prior to the initiation of the skills test. The motorcycle test is conducted on a completely paved lot off any roadway, however an approved helmet is still required during the test.
Keep in mind that the applicant does not hold a license until they have completed the test and submitted their certificate of passing to the Michigan Secretary of State office. They must, therefore, be accompanied by a licensed motorcycle driver (or trailer their motorcycle to and from the test facility).
No rental motorcycles or helmets are available through F.C.G. for motorcycle tests.
